Down to 16, and Things Are Hotting Up

Woah, not sure what these guys spent their break doing but they’ve gone into turbo mode and we’re down to 16 players already! Busted since Andrew Wilson: Helder Pinho, Tobias Holmeide and Luis Dono. Down to just two tables, the TD has taken this opportunity to move the tournament over to the middle of the room, away from the aggressive air conditioning. Blinds/ante are 3k/6k/6k, by the way.

Andrew Outdrawn

I didn’t get to the table in time to see the chips go in, but I strongly suspect that it was on the flop. Either way, Andrew Wilson (pictured) has had his High Roller hopes dashed, while Stephen Woodhead is up to roughly 200k. Wilson: the mighty As-Ac Woodhead: the apparently even mightier Ah-9h Board: 3s Jh Kh 7h Qh In other news from this table: Andy Black to Daniel Wilson (no relation): “Can I have a Rolo?” D. Wilson: “Yeah, but it’s not my last one.”

Freezeout

The bloggers thank Mr. Andy Black for drawing the TD’s attention to the plight of everyone in this corner of the cavernous tournament room. “Is there any reason we’re playing this in the middle of the fucking tundra?” enquired Black in characteristically diplomatic fashion, resplendent in a bright orange woolly hat, perhaps designed to alert the emergency services as to his location. Indeed, it has been getting progressively colder in here, and players’ and bloggers’ hands alike are starting to go numb, making it increasingly difficult to manipulate chips and keyboards alike. There’s a 20 minute break starting now –...

Fast & Loose

Dietrich Fast and Nicola Basile got the lot in preflop, Basile the player at risk. Fast: 7h-7c Basile: Ad-Ks The board did not deliver an ace or a king, but it did deliver two pairs higher than sevens, counterfeiting Fast and doubling Basile up to 180k or so. Fast was left with just 35k or, with the average stack currently at over 90k.

Silver’s Power Outage

You’ve got to hand it to High Roller scourge Max Silver, all-in in bad shape he always seems to be both optimistic and gracious in losing and gentlemanly in suck-out.  Just now Silver opened to 5,500, raised by the button Duff Charette to 17,000, only to find small blind Ankit Ahuja moving all-in for 29,000.  Silver went all in over the top (but not for a whole lot more) and Charette folded. Silver: Jd Js Ahuja: Ks Kc “You don’t mind if I give it some power?” asked Silver, as the 3d 5h 5c flop came down. “Only for me,”...

No Silva Lining for Sergio

I arrived to find a three-way preflop showdown between Björn Geissert, Andrew Wilson and Sergio Da Silva; the cards looked like so: Geissert: Ah-Qd Wilson: As-Qh Da Silva: Ks-Kd Da Silva looked to be in great shape, what with there only being two aces left in the deck and so on, but one of them naturally landed on the flop to send him to the rail. Board: 7h Ts Ac 2s 6d Wilson and Geissert chopped it up, leaving them on 75k and 55k respectively.
