Leknes Busts Margereson

Tobias Leknes (pictured) has nearly doubled his stack to over 40,000 after a clash with the now eliminated Scott Margereson.  Leknes opened preflop (blinds 300/600) to 1,300, called in position twice before small blind Margereson (receiving a firm massage which made it look like he was nodding ever so slightly all the time) made it 7,000 to go, with 16,800 behind.  Leknes made the call and the other two got out of the way. Killeen Fields

Irish wunderkind Kevin Killeen has been eliminated from the High Roller – we didn’t quite catch the hand, but it was fellow countryman and overachiever Marc MacDonnell who did the deed, and is now up to 80k or so. Field Officially Larger than Last Year

We currently have 74 entries in the High Roller event, four more than this event got in total last year. With over an hour left to register, and players busting out all over the place what with the Heads Up and Hendon Mob Championships going on elsewhere in the room, it would not surprise us in the slightest if the final number is somewhat higher than that.

High Rolling at the 2019 Irish Open

With 69 entries at the first break, the €2,000 High Roller is well on track to top last year’s field (70), especially as rollers of the high variety are almost all fans of a late register and they can buy in until nine o’clock.
