Marc MacDonnell Busto in 5th Place (€11,280)

Marc MacDonnell shoved with As-3s from the button; Max Silver called with Ac-4c in the big blind. The most likely outcome was of course a chop, but this was not what happened – the board came down Jh 4d 2h 8c 6h, and the pot was shipped to Silver, whose stack duly increased to 380k. A hand or two later, Silver moved in over a 45k raise from Benny Glaser, and once more, his not-so-great ace triumphed, doubling him up to well over 700k, while Glaser is now the short stack on 240k with the blinds/ante about to go up...

Brandt on an Absolute Tear: Busts Skommo (7th) and Johnson (6th) in Same Hand

Orjan Skommo looked down at chip dust and threw in his last four bb (86k) preflop.  To his left, Keith Johnson moved in too for 135k (blinds 10k/20k).  Over to Brandt on the button, who as a big chip leader, toom them both on with pocket eights. Johnson: Ah Kd Skommo: d 7d Brief gutshotty hope for Skommo on a 5d Tc 7c flop, but no joy on the 5c 6h river and Skommo picks up €7,000 and Johnson €8,560.

Wilson Doubles Through MacDonnell

Dan Wilson, down to just 97k under the gun, a third of which was due to go in the next hand as the big blind and ante, moved in. It folded all the way around to Marc MacDonnell in the small blind, who called. On their backs, gentlemen. Wilson: 7c-8c MacDonell: 4h-4c Board: Qd 3h Qs 7d Jd Wilson doubled up to 236k, while MacDonnell dropped to around 160k, giggling. We continue eight-handed for now.

All Change in the High Roller

In between Max Silver’s frequent all-in-pre moves (uncalled on the final table so far), Marc Macdonnell doubled up to 340k through Keith Johnson, calling his shove on the button with Ad Js (Johnson, in the cutoff, showed 9d Td).  The board: Qs Kh 3d 6h Th, which someone helpfully pointed out from the rail was a straight… Then Daniel Wilson took a big hit, calling Patrice Brandt’s cutoff shove with As Qd and finding himself against Ad 6d.  It’s never easy, and sometimes it’s downright hard: The Qc 5d 7d flop was dangerous, the 4s turn too, and the 8c...

Ankit Ahuja Out in 9th for €5,445

Having nursed a fairly short stack for a while, Ankit Ahuja moved all in over the top of a Benny Glaser open (to 35,000) for around 140k (blinds 8k/16k bb ante 16k).  Call; Glaser’s Ks Qh ended up victorious over Ahuja’s Ad 8d with the help of a Qc Jc 7d 5d Qs board.

Italo Palao Out in 10th Place (€4,670)

Italo Palao has been ninja-ing his short stack around since well before the bubble, but has finally succumbed just now at the hands of Patrice Brandt. Palao open-shoved for just 80k (blinds/ante are 8k/16k/16k at the moment), and Brandt re-shoved from the small blind. Max Silver in the big blind enquired as to how much (A = 210k), but declined to call. His decision was soon vindicated when the cards were revealed. Brandt: Ah-Ad Palao: Ks-7d Board: Jc Jh Td 7c 8h With that, we are down to our nine-handed final table. Seat draw and chip counts to follow…

Stephen Woodhead Bubbles the High Roller; Paid 10 Get a Break

Finally, the bubble has burst.  While Daniel Wilson continued his reign of terror (setting everyone all in quite a lot, knowing that hands were pretty tied), Stephen Woodhead finally ran out of time, and found an ace.  With under 3bb he took his shot with Ac 3h when Wilson, surprise surprise, set him in again.  Wilson tabled 9s 6s but spiked both pairs as the board came down unfavourably for the microstack. A couple of hands later, Max Silver found kings vs. Wilson (who had eights) and has doubled to 230k; Wilson has 350k.  Full counts coming soon, but here’s...
