It’s over 25 years since Terry Rogers introduced No Limit Texas Holdem to his Eccentric Club in north Dublin. The game has grown hugely in popularity since those early days and you can read about Terry’s influence on the game in Ireland in our History of Irish Poker article.
Terry established the Irish Open in the Eccentric club in the early 1980s attracting the very best players from Ireland and the UK. Click here for a glimpse at these early tournaments and to see some very young looking faces, including Donnacha O’Dea, Mel Judah, Scott Gray, Surindar Sunar, Jimmy Langan, Colette Doherty, Liam Flood and Terry Rogers himself gathered in a smokey back room in Dublin more than two decades ago.
What have Mr. T, Amarillo Slim, Larry Flynt and Nell McCafferty all got in common? An affinity with Irish poker of course! See Artifacts, esoterica and reportage to investigate their shared heritage.
