Conroy Doubles to Short Stack

John Conroy was looking at a Ts 8c Qd 8h 5c board when I arrived, with 12k in the pot; very soon after, he went all in for 5.5k. His opponent Gaetano di Maria made the call, but mucked when Conroy turned over Jc-9c for the straight.

“I doubled to a short stack,” Conroy informed me. On 23k now, he is indeed far short of the 42k average, but with blinds/ante still small at 200/400/400, he still has more than enough room to manoeuvre.
